How To Apply: Video Walk Through

      Eligibility

Am I eligible to apply for a Foundation Scholarship?
All admitted EKU students are encouraged to apply. There are hundreds of Foundation Scholarships. Many EKU Foundation scholarships are based on academic credentials such as major, grade point average, grade classification, or ACT scores, or other criteria such as high school, county, or state. Some scholarships are need-based and require data from the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA).

Do I need to complete a FAFSA to be considered?
Some of the foundation scholarships are need-based, but not all. You can still complete a Foundation Application without submitting a FAFSA. To be considered for the need-based scholarships, submit the 2023-2024 FAFSA at studentaid.gov

      Beginning the Application

The Eastern Kentucky University Foundation, through the generosity of its donors, offers a variety of scholarship opportunities to deserving students.

To apply, you will go to: https://success.eku.edu/portal/scho_app
One application will consider you for all eligible scholarships based on your credentials and the scholarship's criteria.

      Logging into the application:
      • Select the 'Click Here' button to log in
      • Log in using EKU Single-Sign-On credentials (EKU Email and password). If you are a newly admitted student and do not know your EKU email and password, you should check the email account that you used to apply for admissions.
If you cannot log in please, contact the EKU IT Helpdesk at 859-622-3000.

Can I save and come back later?
Yes, you can start the application and come back to submit it at a later time. Be sure to log in to the application with your EKU Single Sign-On credentials. Please note: once submitted, you are unable to log back into the application. Instead, you can edit your recommenders and upload additional materials using the portal link in your confirmation email upon submission.

      Letters of Recommendation

Who should write my letter of recommendation?
If the application does not specify, you can select any one of importance that can speak about your work and character. Examples: school guidance counselor, college advisor, coach, a supervisor at work, etc.

After Submitting Application - What To Expect

How will I know what specific foundation scholarships I'm being considered for?
You will receive a confirmation email right after submitting with a link to your scholarship portal. Inside your portal is a list of the scholarships you are being considered for.

When will the Scholarship Committee make a decision?

The scholarship committee will review all applicants and notify those awarded via their EKU email by early Summer 2024.

Did you receive my application? How will I know my application was submitted successfully?

You will receive an email confirming your application has been successfully received upon submission.

Will anything else be required from me if awarded?

Some scholarships do require a personalized thank you letter to the scholarship donor. You will be notified if so.
